One of Glasgow’ most famous music venues is close to reaching its 80th birthday, Christmas Eve, and is asking people to share some of the photos that they’ve taken there over the years.
They are looking for anything from shots inside and out, the bands playing, fans meeting the bands, set lists, t-shirts and more and they should be sent to Barrowlandat80@gmail.com.
There has been much said and written about the famous Barrowland Ballroom over the years with many bands citing it as their favourite venue due to the unbeatable sound and atmosphere generated there.
If you want to read a bit more about it you should check out Barrowland: A Glasgow Experience by Nuala Naughton which charts its historic rise from Glasgow ballroom to the unbeatable music venue it is today.
If you have been on this site before you might have seen the posts about Barraloadasoul which is where I took the featured image on this post. I was lucky enough to be invited to have a look about behind the scenes during the filming of the documentary by Afro-Mic Productions and it was great to see the venue in a different light as the organisers worked away to create one of the best events in Glasgow of 2014, click HERE to find out more about the 2015 event.
Here are a few links that you might find useful for finding out more about the Barrowland Ballroom and remember to send in your pictures!
