This is England ’90 – Coming Soon

New This is England

Fans of This is England don’t have long to wait to discover the fates of some of the best characters to have graced British TV and cinema in recent years.

With the 4 part This is England ’90 due for release in 2015 we will finally get to see how the story ends for these characters that Shane Meadows has so brilliantly developed from the partly biographical coming of age ‘This is England’ to the gritty TV dramas of This is England ’86 and This is England ’88.

Of course with any new release of this size the rumours will be flying about and though the crew have remained tight lipped on the story lines there were rumours that Jack O’Connell may return to resurrect the character of ‘Pukey’, not seen since the film. We will have to wait and see if there is any truth to that with O’Connell’s career going from strength to strength at the moment.

With Meadows love of The Stone Roses it looks like This is England ’90 will continue to loosely follow his own story with the rave scene also being mentioned in between the characters own twisting tales, expect plenty of agony and Ecstasy.

Another development from this summer was the opportunity for someone to make it in as an extra on This is England ’90 by bidding on eBay. This was a fundraiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity which you can find out more about here. After 51 bids the winning bid got up to £2,600 which this worthy charity will benefit from.

With so many loose ends to tie up it is bound to be an intense finale to what has been a superb example of British talent from Shane Meadows and Mark Herbert to Stephen Graham, Vicky McClure, Thomas Turgoose and everyone else involved throughout the entire production.

From a personal point of view the one thing I am hoping for in This is England ’90, no matter what happens to the characters, is for Inspiral Carpets ‘This is How it Feels’ to feature in it and with the Italy ’90 World Cup sure to be a theme it’s bound to be another nostalgia filled trip down memory lane.
